This trunk introduces students to the importance of quilts in the lives of Texans, past and present.  Many subjects can be incorporated in studying quilts, including history, art, home economics, social issues, math, and even environmental concerns (recycling fabrics).  The trunk features background information on the art of quilts and their relevance to people and history, TEKS bases lesson plans, games, and activities as well as relevant artifacts to engage students of all ages.  Students develop knowledge of and appreciation for the function of quilts, quilt making as an art form, and the historic importance of quilts.
