The king cash crop of the South, cotton!  Focusing on the "boom" period of cotton (late 1800s to 1930s) when much of the planting, picking, and processing of cotton was done by hand, this trunk features background information on the cotton plant and the cotton economy, TEKS based lesson plans, games, and activities as well as relevant artifacts to engage students of all ages.  Your students will learn the importance of cotton in the times before and after the Civil War!
