Join us at the museum as Dr. Jon Lohse gives an inside look at the Gault Archaeological Site, located in Bell County. The Gault Site is one of the most significant archaeological dig sites in North America. His presentation will focus on the peopling of the Americas, an overview of work at Gault, and current undertakings of the Gault School of Archaeological Research.

Dr. Jon Lohse is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Gault School for Archaeological Research, a Senior Associate with Terracon Consultants, and adjunct professor of Archaeology at Rice University. He has conducted multidisciplinary research in Texas and Central America, where he has developed interests in early (Archaic and Paleoindian) time periods. He has published on preceramic work in Belize, Guatemala, and Oaxaca; Mesoamerican (Maya) settlement and household archaeology and commoner studies; paleoecological reconstructions using environmental proxies; high-precision radiocarbon based chronologies; and lithic technologies, especially early (Clovis) strategies for stone tool making and learning.
